A Wisbech woman has raised £1,000 for Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital to say thank you for the support given to her mum who is battling pancreatic cancer.
Gill Coakley, 66, of Prince of Wales Close, has defied doctors’ expectations that she would succumb to the terminal disease more than 18 months ago.
Her daughter Kym George organised a bingo at Walsoken Village Hall on Friday night to give something back to the hospital. Mrs George and her family were delighted to see between 100 and 120 people at the hall on the night.
Visitors enjoyed playing bingo and other games during the event.
Mrs George, 33, said: “We are over the moon to have raised so much money. It was nice so many people turned out to support mum.” She hopes to pay for WIFI or a television for the cancer unit.
Mrs Coakley was unable to attend the event as she was unwell.
