Wisbech Town Acorns FC hosted a fun day which raised around £400 for the club.

The family fun day, with coaching sessions and mini games primarily aimed at 6 to 11 year olds, provided entertainment for all ages.

A crowd of a couple of hundred people enjoyed free football sessions, as well as live music from local band Gifford, penalty shoot-outs, a car boot, vintage tractors and a bouncy castle.

Vice-chairman Kelley Lewis said he was “more than happy” as the money raised would be the equivalent of a new team kit.

Mr Lewis said the fun day had been busy for the whole four hours and, due to its immense success, Acorns are looking to hold something similar again next year.

The club are hoping that events such as these will help to raise funds so that new premises could become a possibility.

More space to host more teams is Acorns’ current goal, as they are expecting to gain a new facility at Wisbech’s Harecroft Road in the near future.
