The event will be hosted by Drew Cameron, who is the professional compere and comedian known for his work with none other than rock legend Brian May of Queen.
The event takes place between noon and 8pm in Wisbech Park and provides fun for the whole family, includes fair rides, amusements, stalls, merchandise as well as food and drink, including a barbeque.
The town council has decided to support the bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for regeneration of Wisbech High Street. The council recognises that the dilapidated and fire-damaged buildings in Wisbech are having a detrimental impact upon the historic character of the town centre as well as on the attractiveness of the town as a place where people would want to bring businesses, live or visit.
The town council and representatives of local businesses etc are currently progressing the decision of the council to provide improvements to the town’s Christmas lights from 2014; the aim is to create a wow factor and the Town Council has allocated £30,000 for this purpose; there will be public consultation, to see if there is public support for this proposal, before final decisions are made.
Work is in hand, led by Fenland District Council but with input from the town council and local organisations, to provide the annual Wisbech Christmas Festival/Market on Monday, December 15.
