A commander of the March army cadet unit has been presented with a long service award.
Staff Sgt Gemma Offer was given the cadet service medal to mark 12 years’ service during an event held at the Cadet Training Centre in Waterbeach.
The event aimed to highlight the work of the Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force. It was attended by Wisbech mayor, Michael Hill, along with Kit Owen, the mayor of March.
Guests were treated to afternoon tea before visiting a number of display stands.
A number of arena displays were also staged including a first aid incident, a foot and drill marching squad with a finale of military music and “sunset” by the Corps of Drums.
Col Steve Martin, Cadet Commandant, said: “It was a splendid opportunity to show what the cadets actually do in training.
“Many guests were surprised at the range of activities on offer and the professional manner in which the arena displays were presented. It was a great success.”
An additional surprise for all was a flypast by a Vulcan Bomber making its way to Duxford for an airshow.
