Veterinary nurse Laura Dickens and her twin sister Amy are striding out for the Alzheimer’s Society and a Northampton-based hospice in memory of their grandfather.
They are taking part in a 26-mile walk from Stonehenge to Avebury on September 7 organised by the Alzheimer’s Society.
Around 700 walkers are expected to start at 6.30am and finish in the early evening. Laura and Amy, who will be 26 tomorrow (Thursday), will give half of their proceeds to Cransley Hospice, after their late grandfather Alan Green was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2010.
Laura, who lives in March and works at Amical Veterinary Centre, is suffering from tendonitis as a result of her preparations but vowed: “I am still going to do it, even if I have to crawl,”
