The 1st March Beavers discovered more about caring for animals when they visited a pet store as part of their scouting badge.

The children earned their pet care badge following an exciting trip to Pets at Home in Cromwell Road, Wisbech.

During the visit, the boys and girls handled guinea pigs, and learnt about the habitats and eating habits of a variety of small animals, including cold water and tropical fish, geckos, bearded dragons, rabbits and chinchillas.

The youngsters were joined on the trip by Beaver group leaders Lucy Yorke, Sally Gaskin and Mark Shoesmith and helper Lucy Neugebauer.

Miss Yorke said the children had a wonderful day.

“The Pets at Home staff were all very helpful and friendly and answered the children’s questions,” she said.

“All the children and young leaders had a fab time.”
