A MARCH couple celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Thursday.
Poppy and Tom Kirby (pictured right) met in their teens in Dartford, Kent and married on March 29, 1952 when Poppy was 19 and Tom was 21.
They spent most of their married life in Peckham, London.
Tom was head lad in a racing stable and Poppy worked in Woolworth’s.
The couple had five daughters and two sons – Teresa, Sandra, Sharon, Elaine, Marion, Alan and Steven. Steven sadly died four years ago.
They moved to March three years ago as they had a daughter living in Doddington and a granddaughter in Three Holes.
They celebrated their anniversary with a meal at their daughter’s house and a family get-together at The Chequers at Tholomas Drove at the weekend.
