Charities and groups are being invited to apply for grants from a March business aiming to make a difference to its community.

Smurfit Kappa is on the lookout for charities, organisations and individuals in the area who could benefit from a share of cash from its sponsorship scheme.

The corrugated packaging firm, based in Hostmoor Avenue, will be setting aside around £5,000 to donate to worthy causes, with quarterly meetings to agree donations being held at the end of March, June, September and December.

Last year, some of the awards included £400 to March Cricket Club for new season kit, £350 towards a special cycle for an employee’s daughter who has Spina Bifida, £200 towards sports equipment for YPM (Young People of March), £400 to Eddies who help local people with learning disabilities, £400 towards running costs for Estover Playing Fields, and £125 to the Sanctuary Jubilee Court towards outings/entertainment for the elderly.

The company is now seeking applications for 2016. Applications can only be received from the PE15 postcode area, and have to be accompanied by a letter, ideally on headed paper.

Applicants are asked to give as much information as possible, including how many people would benefit from a donation and what impact it would make.

Anyone wanting an application form can contact the company on 01354 662200 or write to Elizabeth Neal, 35 Hostmoor Avenue, March, PE15 0AX.
