A FUNDRAISING venture for a few friends has spiralled to such an extent a March mum has decided to open it to the public.
Helena Mueller initially planned a coffee morning for about 20 of her friends and their children to raise cash for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
But as organisation of the event planned for November 7, got underway it has grown and grown and now Helena, who has a one-year-old son, has decided to open it to anyone who would like to go along.
The change in plans has also meant a switch of venue from March Trinity Methodist Church to the Oliver Cromwell Hotel.
“I’m quite a busy person and I really like a project so I decided to organise something for my friends and their children and to also raise money for charity.
“I have been round and asked local businesses for raffle prizes and everyone has been so generous I now have so many excellent prizes I felt I had to open it up to everyone,” explained Helena.
The event will run from 10.30am to 2pm and admission is free. There will be an ice cream van on site offering the first 40 children a free ice cream.
Other attractions include a chance for children to make pottery items that can be given as Christmas presents.
Abracadabra has provided decorations and a local florist has donated floral arrangements which will go into the raffle. There will be a nail bar and cup cakes. Children can enjoy a ball pit, build a bear as well as other entertainment. There will also be refreshments available
In fact Helena has managed to secure 37 prizes for the draw and is hoping to sell at least 1,000 tickets at £1 each with all proceeds going to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.
Raffle tickets are on sale at March Quality Meats, The Griffin and will also be available on the day.
“I just cannot believe how supportive everyone has been. Practically everyone I have approached to donate a prize has given something, which is great in these tough times,” said Helena.
Anyone who would like to run a stall on the day or donate a prize should contact Helena on 07813579925.
