The landmark Ye Olde Griffin pub has been sold after its previous owners went into administration last month.
Peter Saville, Kevin Coates and Anne O’Keefe of advisory and restructuring specialists Zolfo Cooper were appointed joint administrators to Bramwell Pubs and Bars Ltd when it went into administration on October 31.
Since then, as reported in the Citizen on Wednesday, Zolfo Cooper have been looking for buyers for the estate’s 185 pubs and bars across the UK including the Griffin on March High Street, and The Case at Wisbech.
And today (Friday) the administrators announced the sale of 78 sites, including the Griffin, to the Stonegate Pub Company Ltd, in a transaction which secures approximately 1,700 jobs nationwide.
Peter Saville commented: “We are extremely pleased to have secured the sale of this significant number of units to Stonegate and we wish Stonegate and the staff all the best for the future. Our focus now is on working to secure futures for the remainder of the estate and we continue to invite parties wishing to make an expression of interest in these sites to contact Zolfo Cooper.”
