An unexpected and most generous welcome, in the form of a donation of £100 as a prize, was made by Sainsbury’s staff at March when the Rotary Club set out its stall to sell tickets for the Big Meal Raffle.

Accepting the cheque, on behalf of Rotary, Paul Garner thanked Sainsbury for their assistance in setting up the stall and said: “It will be a wonderful surprise for a lucky ticket holder in March, this Christmas.”

The good citizens of March, opened their hearts, and wallets in support of the raffle, the whole proceeds of which will be donated to Magpas, the Emergency Medical Response unit.

A constant stream people wishing to purchase a ticket for only £1, continued all day. The result being close on doubling the income from previous venues this month.

Over 30 local venues have donated a meal voucher, many worth over £50. Further tickets may be purchased at Lidl.

All tickets will be drawn, in public by local Radio Cambridgeshire personality Johnny Dee, at 3pm on Sunday, December 7.at the Christmas Market. All winners will be notified.
