A baby bird has survived against all odds after being taken under the wing of March veterinary nurse.
The fledgling goldfinch was taken into Amical Vets, in High Street, March two weeks ago with no feathers and its eyes unopened.
Twenty-year-old Narissa Merry said: “Feeding him on a recovery diet we keep here for cats and dogs I gave it my best shot, fully expecting to wake up the next morning and find him dead,” she says.
“But to my surprise, morning after morning I would look in his box and find him open mouthed wanting food!
“Two weeks on he is still going strong, and has found his identity as a goldfinch.
“He’s got all his feathers and even started flying – he’s become famous among the staff and clients at my practice and has got a very special place in my heart!”
