MEMBERS of a Wisbech group met the town mayor and enjoyed a tour of the council chamber on Wednesday.
The Whirly Birds went to the North Brink civic building for their fortnightly meeting after having a meal at nearby Mendi’s.
Members met Mayor Jonathan Farmer and Mayoress Susanah Farmer. Unfortunately Beadle Alister Hopkins was absent due to ill health, but Mrs Farmer tried her best to match his extensive knowledge of the town’s history.
Sheila Judge, one of the members, said they had been looking forward to going to the council chamber and learning about the council and its long history.
The Whirly Birds, who number around 30 members, meet every two weeks and enjoy a range of talks and presentations, as well as trips out to places of interest. A recent presentation was given by a probation officer and they are looking forward to a talk from a paramedic next month.
Anyone who would like more information about joining can call Sheila on 01945-582024.
