A “lady with a heart of gold” will be remembered thanks to a memorial bench.

Molly Watkins was a popular face in St Peter’s Church, Wisbech, until her death earlier this year.

Now a memorial bench dedicated to her has been unveiled in the churchyard along with some replacement rose bushes, thanks to donations from her funeral.

A new memorial slab has been placed on Baxter’s Tomb, which honours town benefactor John Baxter and his wife Sarah. The slab, with the original wording, has been funded by the Wisbech Society and Fenland District Council, working with the Friends of St Peter’s Gardens Committee.
