A scale model of Wisbech as it was in Georgian times is the centrepiece of an exhibition at the town’s Peckover House, now open for the 2016 season.
The North Brink National Trust property opened on Saturday with the exhibition ‘A Georgian town in the Fens’.
It explores the Wisbech of c.1795 and the model has taken a year to make and a lot of work, skill and imagination.
“Our team of ten volunteers, who had no previous experience of model making, have been working on this since last March,” said Diane Smith, the exhibition’s coordinator. “We have created more than 100 tiny houses, pubs, warehouses and shops, as well as fields and gardens. It has been very absorbing and a lot of hard work and it has been fulfilling to see the model taking shape.”
The exhibition runs throughout the season on normal open days, from midday to last admission at 4.30pm. There is no extra admission charge. For more details call Peckover House on 01945 583463.
