FENLAND MP Steve Barclay visited Wisbech’s Macmillan and Hudson Palliative Care Centre where he met staff, volunteers and patients and found out about Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust’s bid to become a community NHS Foundation Trust.
Michelle Knight, palliative care clinical nurse specialist at the centre said: “We were able to show Mr Barclay our day therapy unit where we provide symptom monitoring and advice alongside therapeutic intravenous infusions and our inpatient facility, which again provides symptom management and end of life care in a calm and peaceful environment.
“It was a great opportunity for staff to meet their local MP and talk about the services we provide to those with life-threatening illness and their families and carers.”
Central to the Foundation Trust bid is a membership predominantly made up of local people and staff who would have a major influence on how the authority provides community health and social care in the future.
Mr Barclay is urging Fenland residents to become a member of the Trust and get involved in their health and social care services.
