New carpets have been laid at a Wisbech church thanks to two generous donations.
St Augustine’s Church has been able to replace its old lounge carpet with a new one after receiving money from the Wisbech Masonic Trust and a donation from Freda Hemmaway.
A popular day centre, which attracts about 50 different pensioners a week, meets in the church lounge.
Church warden Keith Hood has thanked both the Masons and Mrs Hemmaway.
He said: “The new carpet has made a big difference to the room and everyone has commented on it, especially the day centre users.
“I would like to thank the Masons and Freda for their contributions.
“The church holds a lot of activities including yoga and keep fit sessions.”
Pensioners enjoy a meal and activities during the day centre sessions.
The cheque was presented to day centre manager Maxine Woodhouse by Masonic Trust members.
Trust chairman David Bays said that members were delighted to be able to help the church.
He said: “We are pleased to be able to but a new carpet for the church. It will make it more comfortable for the older folk.
“We are very pleased to help any non-Masonic organisations.”
