A new support group has been formed to help former armed services personnel settle back into civilian life.

The Rosmini Centre in Wisbech has received funding from the Ministry of Defence to run the New People, New Places and New Challenges project.

Centre director Anita Grodkiewicz said veterans from different nationalities are meeting at the centre on Saturday mornings from 10am to noon.

She said the idea to form the group was suggested by people who use the centre. She said: “There has been a lot in the news about people who leave the armed services and find it difficult to settle back into civilian life.

“We applied for a small pot of money to run a one-year project. They can drop in on a Saturday morning and have a chat. We are also looking to do an activity one evening a month.”
