A new Facebook page to engage residents with the police in the March and Chatteris area has received over 800 ‘likes’ in the first week.

The Policing March and Chatteris page aims to provide regular updates on policing in the March, Chatteris, Manea, Wimblington and Doddington areas, including updates on crimes, crime prevention advice, court results, witness appeals and community issues.

Sergeant Martin Monger, for March and Chatteris, said: “We’ve seen some excellent examples of social media being used by colleagues from other parts of the county. We want to build on this and offer our residents a page focusing on where they live, visit and work.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that the page has received more than 800 ‘likes’ within its first week – it just goes to show the level of community spirit we have here and the interest the community takes in what is happening and being done by their policing team.”

The page can be viewed by visiting www.facebook.com/fencops.marchandchatteristeam

Fenland officers also have Policing Whittlesey and Wisbech Policija Facebook pages and an @FenCops Twitter account providing all the latest updates on what they’re doing in the district to keep residents safe.
