A new era for bowlers in Wisbech will be starting at the weekend when a new club is officially opened.
Players are being urged to support the grand opening of Hudson Indoor Bowls Club, which will be held at 2pm on Saturday in the Hudson Centre.
The club has been formed by a group of volunteers after the former Wisbech Indoor Bowls Club relinquished its lease at the Hudson Centre during March. The former club owes Fenland District Council £16,000.
But the new club has signed a lease with the council and is now hoping to attract younger players.
One of the people behind the new club is Roger Rawson, who says grant applications will be made to Living Sport and Golden Age.
He said: “People are pleased it is back as the club is an important part of the community.
“Everyone is welcome to come along on Saturday.”
The honour of opening the club will fall to Wisbech Mayor David Hodgson, who has been involved in the reformation.
