WEST Walton Primary School is celebrating an Ofsted report which says the school is ‘good with outstanding features’.
Headteacher Jill Davis said this is a very high level of achievement and a credit to the staff, governors, parents and children.
Government inspectors said: “West Walton is a good school. Features of its work are outstanding, including the extent to which pupils feel safe, their contribution to the school and wider community and their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.”
The report said: “The headteacher provides outstanding leadership in setting out her vision for the school and building an effective team committed to rapid improvement.”
Many areas of the school gained significant commendations including an outstanding curriculum, good teaching and relationships between pupils and staff. Children have good behaviour and willingly take on responsibilities.
There is a good tracking system to monitor pupil progress and standards are continually rising. The range of clubs and extra curricular activities is excellent and there are high standards in singing, sport and music.
Ms Davis said: “We have two areas for development: further raising attainment for higher ability children in KS1 and giving senior leaders more opportunities to observe lessons, areas which the school had already identified in its development plan.”
