Fenland Running Club will be holding their annual ‘Get Running’ beginners’ course this summertime.
This will be the fourth time the club has held the course, which is aimed at anyone wanting to start or get back into running.
The last three courses have seen some great success with over 100 people aged 16-76 getting involved, and some attendants going on to run half-marathons and marathons.
For others the achievement has been taking part in a local parkrun of 5k or some of the club’s own events, such as 3-mile Time-Trials.
This year runners from the Get Running course have travelled with the club and ran the Coniston 14, a hilly but beautiful 13.8mile run around Lake Coniston in the Lake District, as well as the recent Manchester and Brighton Marathons.
This year the free eight-week course will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from May 31 to July 21. The sessions are open to anyone 16+ and start at 6:30pm, meeting at Wisbech Rugby Club next to the Chapel Road car park.
The course will finish with a charity run in aid of British Limbless ex-military men’s association, a charity chosen by a runner from last year’s course.
The charity run will be a choice of one lap of 3.5miles or two laps totalling 7miles, with a barbecue to finish. For anyone interested in joining the club now, or after the Get Running course, club nights are also Tuesday and Thursday, 6:30pm, meeting at the Wisbech Rugby Club.
The club will cater for runners of all abilities and has different groups suitable, whatever your pace. All groups are led by one of the 12 qualified run leaders, under the supervision of the club coach.

Active Fenland are also running a beginner to 5k session in West End Park, March.
The Session, ‘March 5K Mission’, is being led by a qualified coach, Lee Carey, from March Athletics Club.
The sessions are aimed at helping the complete beginner reach 5K so they can take part in the March parkrun held every Saturday at 9am. Sessions are completely free and held on Mondays, 6-7pm, meeting at New Vision Fitness the George Campbell Centre, March.
