Those venturing into Peterborough city centre on the night of September 18 are being asked not to be alarmed if they see emergency vehicles and people made up to look like casualties.

A planned multi-agency exercise is due to take place from 6pm to 10pm at Queensgate Shopping Centre, designed to test the response of emergency services, local authorities and other partners.

Exercise Hotfoot will be based around a scenario involving a promotional car on fire inside the shopping centre, at the foot of the escalators at North Square. The scenario involves multiple casualties. There will be lots of fire engines, ambulances and police cars in the city centre, along with students from Peterborough Regional College made up to look like casualties.
