THE flags were being waved and the bunting went up as members of Wisbech’s St Raphael Club celebrated the Diamond Jubilee.

The club’s chairlady, Jenny Bonnett, organised Wednesday’s party, thanking all her helpers who made the celebrations special.

The hall was decorated for a coffee morning on the Saturday to coincide with coronation day and club members held a stall as part of the Wisbech Town Jubilee celebrations on the Bank Holiday Monday in the Market Place. Their tombola stall raised £232 for club funds.

Then Wednesday was their own party time at the Love Lane premises.

There was entertainment with singer Duncan who got everyone to join in and a buffet to follow.

Guests included members of Crowland St Raphael Club as well as carers and helpers and some old friends also attended.

Around 80 people in all enjoyed the celebrations, which Jenny said were “brilliant”.
