Dog owners who fail to clear up their pets’ mess or keep them under control face being hit with £75 fixed penalties.
Fenland District Council is carrying out a rolling programme of patrols targeting different areas to enforce tighter dog control orders introduced last year. The orders include banning dogs from
some play areas and cemeteries and keeping them on a lead in some parks and open spaces.
Councillor Peter Murphy, FDC’s portfolio holder responsible for the environment, said: “Most owners behave responsibly but a small minority don’t. Their selfishness spoils everyone’s enjoyment and poses a particular threat to children.”
Details of the orders and the locations affected by them can be viewed at www.fenland.gov.uk/dog-control.
