Christmas is coming – and three big community events will help get you in the festive mood.

n This Sunday (December 8) March is staging its first ever Christmas Market from 10am until 4pm with 60 stalls filling the whole of Broad Street and part of High Street, and another 25 in a craft fair on the market place itself.

There will be a Santa’s Grotto within a Winter Wonderland at March Town Hall, free funfair rides for children all day and street entertainers. Local bands and artists will perform, including March’s brass band and Burrowmoor primary school pupils singing carols.

n Also this Sunday is Fenland District Council’s annual community carol service, hosted by the council’s chairman and his consort, Councillors Ken and Kay Mayor. It is at St Mary’s Church, Station Road, Whittlesey, at 3pm. All welcome.

n On Monday December 16 Wisbech is expecting a massive crowd at its traditional Christmas Market. It starts at 9am, with the grand opening at 11am, and runs until 4.30pm.

There will be more than 100 stalls and attractions, including a big craft fair in Church Hall and the Castle, live reindeer in Museum Square and carol singers, entertainers and clowns all day.

A free park and ride service will be available from Elme Hall Hotel/Morrison’s bus stop from 10am to 4pm.

And the fun doesn’t stop at Christmas. A big New Year’s Eve party is being held at FDC’s Manor Leisure Centre in Whittlesey on December 31 at 7pm. The Mesh Band are the star attraction and they’ll be accompanied by a disco. Tickets cost £20 per person.
