Funds are still on offer from Fenland District Council for some shop owners keen to improve the look of their premises.
Grants are available for the repair or reintroduction of traditional timber shopfronts for period buildings or for aluminium ones in more modern ones – up to 50 per cent of the total cost of the work (maximum of £1,500). They can also be given for minor repairs or repainting, but not for signage. Money is also available for listed buildings and buildings on the draft list of Buildings of Local Interest, up to 50 per cent of the costs, with a maximum of £1,800.
