Village housing plan to be heard

An application to knock down Christchurch Memorial Hall and build nine houses on the site has been recommended for approval by planning officers.

A previous application for the site on Church Road was withdrawn in December 2012 due to concerns about the design of the site access. The new plan has an amended layout and asks permission for one less property.

The development would be a mix of three- and four-bedroom houses with garages.

In addition to the Memorial Hall, the site also features an existing farmyard, agricultural buildings, open barns and open storage areas.

The parish council has already got planning permission for a new village hall, which will be an extension of the sports field pavilion.

Eleven letters of objection were received to the original plans but concerns about access, impact on tree canopies and overlooking still remain.
