Norfolk County Council is celebrating the contribution of local volunteers at an evening reception ‘Volunteering Norfolk: A Celebration of Localism in Action’ at County Hall.
On Thursday 18 April the County Council’s Chairman Ian Monson will be hosting the event as a thank you to the thousands of volunteers across Norfolk who give up their time for others.
A call is now going out to people to nominate a volunteer from their organisation who they think deserves the recognition for their achievements.
Ian Monson commented on the evening reception by saying: “Here in the county we are lucky to have thousands of people who are willing to give up their time so selflessly to help others. I therefore wanted to hold an event specifically to give thanks to those people. They may be a person who has volunteered with a particular organisation for a number of years, or someone who has overcome adversity and now gives up their time to help others.
“The evening will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate volunteers and I would urge people from local organisations to get in touch and nominate someone they think deserves to be recognised for going that extra mile.”
Nominees will be invited to bring a guest to the event on Thursday 18 April which will provide an opportunity for people to share ideas and interests with others.
Nominations can be emailed via firstname.lastname@example.org and need to be received by Friday 8 March.
