TWO March posties are set to stride out again this autumn in aid of a top children’s hospital.
Nick Winterton and Tony Cliss, who are based at the March sorting office, are planning to walk 36km along the Dorset Jurassic Coast in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.
This will be the third time the intrepid pair have undertaken a charity walk.
In 2010 they raised £2,000 for Barnado’s and last year they completed a trek along Hadrian’s Wall to raise £1,600 for Great Ormond Street.
They are hoping to top that total this year.
Nick, who has recovered from a deep vein thrombosis to take part in this year’s walk, said: “We love doing the walks and people seemto mention them all the time so it’s a win win situation. We were lucky enough to be invited to the hospital last year to visit a ward and meet some of the staff which was fantastic. You only have to see the new heart and lung centre to know that every penny is crucial in keeping the hospital wold class.”
Tony added: “We find it hard to believe the amount of money we keep raising year after year, and we want to thank everyone for their kindness and continued support.”
There are several ways you can sponsor the pair, by speaking to either of them while they are out on their rounds, or any of the other posties for a form, by calling into the office at the delivery office in Dartford Road or by contacting the delivery office on 01354-723301 and asking for a form to be delivered.
The pair are already well on target to beat last year’s total with £900 so far pledged.
“It would be fantastic if we could at least equal last year’s total, but it would be better still if we could actually beat it,” added Tony.
