WORLD powerlifting champion Louise Fox from March is the latest person confirmed to join Reg Kemp’s alternative Olympic torch event.
Louise is also a five times British powerlifting champion and a deadlift champion.
Reg is hoping she will bring along some of her medals to his jog/walk in the park at West End on July 15.
In an email to Reg confirming her attendance, Louise said: “Being a March girl born and bred I’d love to be involved as it sounds like a lovely idea.”
Reg has also invited Colin Bedford, the chairman of March Veteran and Vintage Cycle Club, to come along and he is hoping he will ride a bike he brought to the recent March Summer Festival parade that was used by a competitor in the 1936 Olympics.
March Athletic Club stalwart Peter Jackman will be starting the walkers/joggers off at 1pm.
Peter (81) is a former chairman of March AC, a post he held for 30 years.
Peter, his wife Gena and club members Mick Durrant and Sue Beedham will be marshaling as part of the London 2012 Olympics.
All four will be on duty for the cycling and the men’s and women’s marathons. Mick will also be a marshal during the Paralympics.
Both adult and junior members of March AC will also be at West End park where Reg has arranged for the March people who carried the official Olympic torches, to parade their torches for people to see.
