Praise for railway pair

Two railway workers have been praised for their actions on a March towpath after an elderly woman fell down.

The two workers, dressed in orange and believed to be Network Rail employees, were alerted by a dogwalker on the opposite side of the river.

They climbed down a snow-covered bank from the bridge above and stayed with the semi-conscious pensioner until the emergency services arrived.

The dogwalker, who thinks the workers are called Steve and Russ, said: “This kind of behaviour restores your faith in human nature.”
