The Angles Theatre presents the eastern premier of Avenue Q being performed by members of RATz, the theatre’s award-winning in-house company.
Billed as Broadway’s funniest show, Avenue Q represents a different challenge for the cast who are working with puppets.
The production is being directed by Kevin Shippey who has been helped by his daughter Laura-Jayne, who also plays one of the leading roles - Kate monster.
Laura-Jayne said: “We are on stage with puppets and the puppet and you become one. I haven’t done anything like this before, it has been quite a challenge.”
The production is aimed at a 16 plus audience and has a cast of around a dozen. Laura-Jayne said it is all cleverly put together on similar lines to Sesame Street. It is about real life - finding and losing a job, racism, getting an apartment and getting kicked out, being different, love, hangovers.
Performances are 7.30pm, tickets are £11 (£9 concessions). Call the box office on 01945-474447. The show opened on October 1 and runs to Saturday October 5.
