Protest to take place on Saturday

The anti-immigration protest is due to take place in Wisbech Park this Saturday.

The protest has been organised by members of a Facebook group called ‘Wisbech Immigration Matters’, which stemmed from a similar group in Boston, Lincolnshire.

Sharon Jardine, from the Facebook group, said: “The response has been very good.”

The static protest will take place between 1pm and 2pm in the park. Sharon will be speaking, as will Dean Everitt from the Boston group and Alan Jesson, who spoke at another demonstration in Spalding.

Spalding’s protest, which took place in April, was attended by about 150 people and there was a strong police presence. It all went peacefully.

‘We Are Wisbech’, which is against the protest, is urging people to attend the International Children’s Day celebration going on at the Rosmini Centre on the same day.
