Children at Manea School enjoyed a host of activities on Monday to launch this term’s new Creative Curriculum topic “The Southern Hemisphere”.

The fun included a lesson in the Haka the Maori war dance (pictured) used by the New Zealand rugby team before international games to intimidate their opponents.

They also created landscape paintings and interpreted pieces of music from the southern half of the World and designed their own passports. The day ended with a huge celebration of the Key Stage II pupils’ work.

Catherine Smith, the school’s Key Stage II team leader said the children really enjoyed the day and said it was a good way to launch the new topic.
