West Walton’s Parish Church was filled with the sound of children singing on Monday when pupils from the village primary school took part in a mock wedding.

Classes 1 and 2 took part in the ceremony presided over by the Rev Neil Batcock, who ensured proceedings were as close to the real thing as they could be. He explained parts of the service as it went along and led groom Joe Harris and his bride Emmie Parker through their vows.

All the children had an allocated role from being a bridesmaid or usher to being a member of the congregation. Hymns were sung, prayers were said and the couple even got to sign the register.

The ceremony was held as part of the children’s RE studies. Year 6 pupils organised the wedding from producing the invitations to acting as official photographer. They also formed a catering company, which provided food for the wedding reception..
