A CHARITY bowls match in March on Sunday was unfortunately a wash-out but members still raised £400 for two national charities.
Members of March Outdoor GER Club did not get to play a match at all due to the heavy rain, only the second time this has happened since 1994.
However, the gathered players used the opportunity to spend some time together in the two huts and enjoyed a fun social afternoon with refreshments. They then sat down and ate a meal that was supplied by members of the club.
The players dug deep for the Stroke Association and Cancer Research – chosen as stroke and cancer have both affected members of the club – and raised £400 to be split between the two causes.
The annual bowls match is held in memory of Ivy Norton, a former member and sister of current club member Muriel Dunham.
