RESIDENTS and staff at Wisbech’s Glennfield Care Centre celebrated St Patrick’s Day a day early by turning a cafe into a pub for Friday afternoon.
Residents tucked into home-made bar nibbles, washed down with tipples including Guinness and wine.
Wisbech brewery Elgood’s helped to create a traditional pub atmosphere by supplying a pump, beer mats and towels and Glennfield staff served the drinks.
There was also entertainment with Betty on the keyboard and the chance to enjoy a good old-fashioned sing-along and even have a dance.
One of the organisers, Katie Doiley, an activities co-ordinator, said it was the first time they have held an event to celebrate St Patrick and it was a big success.
She said it was great fun and everyone enjoyed themselves.
“It felt like the residents had been out for the day,” said Katie.
The Money Bank centre is holding an Easter Fair with a car boot on April 9 from 2pm to 4pm to raise money for the residents’ comforts fund towards outings and entertainment.
There will be stalls and competitions, an egg hunt, tombola, raffle and stalls for the children.
Members of the public are invited to come along and support the event.
