REFURBISHMENT work on Three Holes Village Hall, which has been closed since an arson attack and burglary on April 14, is nearing completion and a re-opening event is planned for November 26.
To celebrate the occasion, committee members are keen to hear from anyone who has special memories of taking part in or running an event at the hall in the past.
“From the interest shown after the fire, we know that lots and lots of people have enjoyed activities at the hall over the years,” said Brian Ranger, committee chairman.
“If they have photos they could loan or stories they could tell, we are keen to include these in a display at the opening event.”
As the hall was originally opened in 1952 there must be hundreds of photos of family wedding receptions and parties, bowls matches, Christmas bazaars, club meetings, dances etc.
The committee is also keen for younger members of the community to get involved and has invited pupils from the village primary school - or other primary school age children living in Upwell - to enter a competition. Children are being asked to design an A4 landscape-size picture entitled “Celebration at the Hall”.
Details are available from the school or committee members. Winning entries will be displayed as a permanent exhibit at the hall and all the other pictures will be compiled into a scrapbook.
There will also be a photographic display of the restoration of the hall, showing the various stages of the work, the cost and how the money was raised.
On November 19, as originally planned, Kenny Rich will now be able to entertain with music and dancing at 8pm. Tickets are £7 call Carol or Eddie on 01945-773916.
