THIS year’s Manea Gala sees a return to the traditional - with a bit of new thrown in.

The event which kicks off on Saturday (July 9) from noon with the popular carnival parade, which organisers are hoping will be bigger and better than in recent years, promises to be a fun day for all the family.

Attractions at Manea Playing Field start from 2pm and include all the usual stalls, plus Tug-o’-War, a Bungee Run, Bucking Bronco and Hydro Balls, as well as a Bouncy Castle.

There will be a Grand Draw, with £100 cash prize, among others.

There is also a return of the popular flower display in the Church Rooms, Park Road, and as always, the Gala will be the place to see one of the finest collections of classic vehicles and motorcycles in the country. Look out for Peterborough Scooter Club this year.

Weather permitting, there will be a fly-past of a classic Battle of Britain aircraft.

Naturally there will be plenty to eat and drink, with WI refreshments at the pavilion, a beer tent, and Manea United FC providing a barbecue.

Manea Silver Band will add a hint of pomp and ceremony to the proceedings, and this year there is a Party in the Park, with a disco and live music from 6pm, and the fun goes on until 11pm.
