Generous Citizen readers helped West Walton schoolgirl Chelsea Compton-Cook raise £10,000 for a pair of waterproof hearing aids.

The magic target was hit in October after the last £1,000 was donated by March Committee for Children’s Charities and A Local Wish.

That meant eight-year-old Chelsea could get her new hearing aids and go swimming with her siblings during the half term school holiday.

The money was raised in just three months after her parents Lisa and Steve launched the Chelsea’s Ears Appeal back in May. They were astounded by the public’s response and tremendously grateful to everyone who donated.

Groups who donated cash included Wisbech Lions, West Walton Primary School, Wisbech Round Table and Wisbech Masonic Benevolent Fund. A fun day held in July raised a massive £2,000.
