THIS year’s Wisbech Christmas Market is taking place on Monday, December 19 and Fenland District Council have released details of which roads will be closed so the market can happen.
Throughout the day, there will only be access for essential and emergency vehicles in the whole of Wisbech town centre. There will no access for delivery vehicles due to the size of the event.
The streets directly affected by the road closures this year are: Norfolk Street, Hill Street, Union Street, Market Place, Market Mews, Little Church Street, Church Terrace, Market Street, Castle Square, Union Place, Ely Place, Museum Square, The Crescent, Castle Mews (Sugar Tub Lane), Wilderness Walk, Bridge Street, York Row and High Street.
There will be no egress from New Inn Yard and access to and from Scrimshire’s Passage will also be affected.
There will be unrestricted pedestrian access around the town centre and plans to run a free park and ride service from the bus stop outside Morrison’s into the Horsefair Bus Station. Free car parking is available at Elme Hall Hotel.
