STAFF from Roddons Housing Association visited the Macmillan & Hudson Palliative Care Centre in Wisbech to hand over a cheque for £395 to contribute towards the care and emotional support the centre provides.
The housing association’s staff collected the money as part of their commitment to enhance life chances and make a positive difference to the community. To raise the funds the team organised a special prize draw and donations from staff as well as contractors.
Sally Taylor, resident involvement officer for Roddons Housing Association, which is part of affordable housing provider Circle Anglia, said: “The Macmillan & Hudson Palliative Care Centre is a much needed and appreciated local centre. The work they do is so important. We are very happy with the amount we managed to raise which will benefit local people and their families.”
The Macmillan & Hudson Palliative Care Centre provides services to patients with life-threatening illness and their families and carers under one roof.
Michelle Knight, sister from the centre, added: “I want to thank Roddons for fundraising for the Macmillan & Hudson Palliative Care Centre. We are a small unit which is dedicated to providing care and symptom management for the patients from Wisbech and the surrounding areas, who suffer with non-curative illnesses.
“Although we are run by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust we rely on charitable support to fund many of our activities, particularly those used to support patient anxiety and their psychological wellbeing. Without the money you have sent us we could not possibly achieve the holistic care our patients deserve.”
