Royal visit and drugs raid to feature on ‘The Specials’

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit to Cambridge last year and a drugs raid in Cambridge will feature in a BBC documentary today (Monday).

The Specials cameraman followed the Special Constables as they assisted in the security operation when the Duke and Duchess visited Cambridge in November.

The BBC One documentary, which will be screened daily at 11am, shows the volunteer officers attending a briefing and dealing with road closures for the royal visit.

The programme will also include Special Sergeant Tony Bolton and the force Tactical Team on a drugs raid in Cambridge where a 25-year-old man is arrested on suspicion of possessing class A and class B drugs.

He pleaded guilty at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court, was fined £350 and his drugs were destroyed.

It will be the sixth episode of the 15-part series focusing on Special Constables in Cambridgeshire.

‘The Specials’ will give viewers an insight into the work of a Special Constable, their role and how they contribute to the police service.
