The Rugby World Cup came to Wisbech as part of a taster day to encourage more girls to take up the sport.
Thomas Clarkson Academy in Wisbech organised the event on Wednesday last week, which was supported by the Rugby Football Union. Schoolgirls from 12 different schools across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk took part in the day, which included some coaching and then competitive games. PE Teacher Kirstie Smith, who plays for Fakenham Foxes, said: “Our academy featured some girl’s rugby on the Key Stage 3 curriculum for the first time this year and it went down very well with a number of the students.”
