The search is now on to find the lucky girl who will be leading the parade through March during next month’s gala.

March Lions are once again running the competition to find the Princess and her attendant who will take pride of place in the event, which takes place on Saturday, June 13.

The gala is a popular event within the three day March Summer Festival, which runs from June 12 to 14 at West End Park.

The Princess and attendant competition is open to girls aged between seven and 16, who live in the March area.

Last year’s Princess Lila-Mai Motram and her attendant Nina Bridger will be passing on their crowns.

This year’s winners will be travelling in style in a horse and trap.

Lions treasurer Ian Groome said: “This is the biggest event in March.

“There will probably be 2,000 to 3,000 people turn out to watch the parade.”

The Summer Festival will kick off on Friday, June 12, with Rock in the Park, which is presented by Camblast Promotions.

West London based Exist Immortal have so far been confirmed to appear during the free concert, which runs from 6pm to 10pm.

This will be followed on the Saturday, June 13, by the March Lions gala.

This popular event will see a parade through the town at noon which will return to West End Park.

Visitors will be able to browse around the various stalls.

Lions members are still looking for more stallholders to come forward and take on a pitch, which cost £15 for charities and £30 for trade.

Pop in the Park and Picnic in the Park are also integral parts of the festival.

If you would like to enter the Princess competition, send a recent picture along with your name, age, address and contact number to: news@fenlandcitizen.co.uk

Judges from the Lions will select the princess and attendant from the photographs submitted to the Citizen and the winners will be published in this newspaper.

The competition will close at 5pm on Thursday, June 4, so don’t leave it to the last minute.
