The search is on for this year’s Wisbech Rose Fair Carnival Queen.

This is the 50th year of the festival, which attracts visitors from near and far. The Citizen has teamed with Wisbech Round Table to find a queen to head the summer parade around the town on Saturday July 6.

There’s a great package on offer for the winner. As well has having the honour of heading the parade, the queen receives £150 from the Round Table, a special dress for the day donated by Young Romantics, of Scrimshire’s Passage, who also provide dresses for the attendants; hair done on the day of the parade at the Cutting Rooms at Hill Street; a makeover photographic shoot with Fotogenic, of Hill Street; and nails done in time for the big day by Lisa Ball, of Lisa’s Nails.

As well as the prizes, the Rose Queen will be presented with a trophy, sash and bouquet. Entry is open to girls aged 14 and over living in Wisbech and district.

To enter: Send to the Citizen a recent photograph with a few biographical details. Remember to include your name, age, address and a day time contact number as we check all entries.

Your address and phone number will not be published. Please write your name on the back of your photograph.

These details can be dropped into the Citizen office at 11 Union Street, Wisbech, PE13 1DN or posted. Please mark your entry Rose Queen.

The Round Table will select a short list from the photographic entries and the chosen finalists will be interviewed by a panel of judges on Thursday June 6 at 6.30pm at Cafe Studio in Etcetera shop, Wisbech.

The deadline for entries is Friday May 15 at 5pm. Names of all the entrants will appear in the Citizen along with some of the photographs but it may not be possible to publish pictures of every entry.
