ST Clement’s Church at Outwell is a drop-off point for shoe boxes as part of Operation Christmas Child.
People are asked to fill shoe boxes with suitable gifts - from toys to toothbrushes - for boys and girls in three different age groups. The decorated boxes will be collected at the church and sent to participating countries for distribution to needy children.
There are restrictions on the items which can be included in the boxes and people are asked to visit the Samaritans Purse website: www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk for more information.
You can collect a leaflet from the church or contact Ruth Saunders on 01945-774235 for one.
The church will be open for receiving shoe boxes each day during the week beginning November 14 between 10.30am and 3.30pm (Saturday 10am – noon).
On Saturday 19th there will be a short service to bless the boxes.
“Filling a shoe box is such a small thing to do but we know that it will bring enormous pleasure to every child who receives one – and there are so many who will otherwise receive next to nothing this Christmas,” said Mrs Saunders.
