Sisters Sallyanne Ellington and Stacey Rudd both successfully completed the London Marathon on Sunday.

Sallyanne ran the course in four hours 34 minutes, while Stacey came in with a time of five hours 38 minutes – times they were both pleased with.

Sallyanne said: “The sheer amount of people made it tough but the atmosphere was amazing. My knees were really aching afterwards and I got sunburn on my shoulders, but I would recommend it to anyone.”

The sisters are raising money for the Institute of Cancer Research and Cancer Research UK in memory of their dad, Michael Jeffrey. It was the anniversary of his death on Sunday, as well as Sallyanne’s daughter Sophie’s birthday.

So far the pair have raised just over £9,000. Their other sister, Shelley Jeffrey, is also raising money, even though she couldn’t do the marathon, and it is hoped their combined efforts will net over £10,000.
