Thomas Clarkson Academy students completed their journey at the Wisbech school with a smash-hit leavers’ prom on Friday last week (June 19).
Year 11 students had earned the right to attend the function at the town’s Elme Hall Hotel by completing a passport requiring stamps for above 95 per cent attendance, good attitude to learning and attending after school clubs.
The 130 youngsters who attended all met the criteria and arrived in style – using a variety of transport including a horse and carriage, fire engine, motor bikes, luxury cars and even a military tank and a vintage Morris Traveller in immaculate original condition.
They were greeted by a host of proud parents and supporters and Mr Gerwyn Williams, progress teacher for the academy’s Pankhurst community, who organised the night, said: “They helped to make it an absolute occasion.
“It was superb. As they leftthe students said they had had a great night.”
The date has been fixed for next year’s leavers’ prom – June 24 at Elme Hall Hotel.
